Selain Ascend Mate, Huawei juga meluncurkan produk lainnya yaitu Huawei Ascend D2. Terdapat beberapa perbedaan dikedua ponsel ini, meskipun keduanya sama-sama bersistem operasi Android Jelly, namun layar yang digunakan pada Ascend D2 lebih kecil yaitu 5 inci saja. Rupanya Huawei memfokuskan Ascend D2 untuk benar-benar menjadi sebuah ponsel ketimbang phablet. Lalu, bobot Ascend D2 lebih ringan yaitu 170 gram saja, juga tedapat fitur anti debu dan air. Meskipun layarnya lebih kecil, namun resolusinya lebih besar yaitu 1080 x 1920 piksel dengan kepadatan 441 ppi.
